Peyman Azimi and Mehran Momeni executed in Isfahan Central Prison

Iranian authorities executed Peyman Azimi and Mehran Momeni at Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerd Prison). Both had been sentenced to death in separate cases on charges of "premeditated murder."
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions were carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Isfahan Central Prison.
Azimi, 27, from Isfahan, had been arrested in 2023 on charges of "premeditated murder during a physical altercation." The Iranian judiciary later sentenced him to qisas (retribution-in-kind).
In a separate case, Momeni, 47, a Gilak man from Langarud in Gilan Province and the father of two children, had been arrested in Isfahan approximately five years earlier on a charge of "premeditated murder." He was also sentenced to qisas.
Iranian state media and media outlets affiliated with the judiciary had not reported the executions.
