Iran executes two prisoners in Shiraz and Semnan

Iranian authorities have executed at least two prisoners, identified as Shafi Shokati and Ali Zibaei, at Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad Prison) and Semnan Central Prison. The two men had been sentenced to death in separate cases involving murder and drug-related charges.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Shafi Shokati, a 39-year-old Baloch man and father of four, was executed at Shiraz Central Prison at dawn on August 24, 2026.

Sources familiar with the case said Shokati was from Iranshahr and lived in Shiraz. He was arrested seven years ago on a murder charge and subsequently sentenced to death under Iran’s qisas (retributive justice) laws.

A day earlier, on August 23, Ali Zibaei, a 48-year-old man and father of two, was executed at Semnan Central Prison. Zibaei, from Semnan, had been arrested four years earlier on drug-related charges and subsequently sentenced to death.

Iranian state media and judicial authorities have not publicly announced either execution.
