A Kurdish activist from Bokan was sentenced to 3-years in prison
Hengaw: According to reports received by Hengaw, a Human Rights Watch reporting on the human rights violations in Kurdistan and Iran, Ismaiel Sanyar, the Kurdish civil rights activist from Bokan was sentenced to 3-years in prison by the Wrimia court.
The court sentenced Mr. Sanyar to 3-years in prison with “endangering national security through communication with human rights organizations and foreign media”.
Mr. Sanyar was arrested on November 22, 2015 by the Iranian intelligence agency and was released on bail a month later. His court hearing was on March 16 2016 where he was acquitted from all charges by the Bokan revolutionary court.
The prosecutor appealed the acquittal ruling and his case was then forwarded to Branch 10 of the Appeal Court in Wrimia, where he was sentenced to 3-years in prison.
