Kurdish political prisoner , Ebrahim Issapour released after 10 years in prison

 Hengaw: A Kurdish political prisoner from Sardasht district of West Azerbaijan (Urmia) province has been released from Urmia Central Prison after serving a 10-year sentence.

 According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, January 27 , 2021, Ebrahim Issapour, a Kurdish political prisoner, was released from Urmia Central Prison after serving 9 years and 8 months of his 10-year sentence. 

 Ebrahim Issapour was detained by Iranian security forces in Sardasht on Saturday, July 9, 2011 and transferred to Iranian  Intelligence service department in Urmia. 

 On Wednesday, April 11, 2012, Ebrahim Issapour along with Sirvan Nejavi, without having the right of access to a lawyer  were sentenced to death by the First Branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Mahabad, headed by Judge Javadikia, on charges of "moharebeh" ( War against God ) through membership in the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK). 

 These two Kurdish prisoners were exiled to Tabriz Central Prison on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.  Ebrahim Issapour was returned to Urmia Central Prison in late June 2015, and Sirvan Nejavi was executed on Sunday, August 9, 2015 in Tabriz Central Prison.

 In 2015 After the Iranian Supreme Court agreed to request the retrial of Ebrahim Issapour, his case was referred to First Branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Urmia and he was sentenced to a total of 18 years in prison, which  by applying Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code , 10 years of his sentence was enforceable.

 This sentence was rejected in the Iranian Supreme Court and after re-examination by first Branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in  Urmia, it was reduced to 11 years of imprisonment.  Pursuant to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, as 10 years of imprisonment, was applicable to him.
 Mr. Issapour was transferred to the detention center of Iranian Intelligence service office in Urmia on April 2020 ,along with three other prisoners, and

was returned to the prison about a month later.
