Sanandaj– Benjamin Rahimpour arrested to serve prison sentence

Benjamin Rahimpour, a 35-year-old former Kurdish political prisoner from Sanandaj, was arrested to begin serving a one-year prison sentence.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rahumpour was arrested on July 13, 2025, and transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison.
Rahimpour, originally from Aviheng village and a resident of Sanandaj, is married and a father of two.
On February 14, 2025, he was sentenced by the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court for “propaganda against the state” and “propaganda in favor of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.”
He was initially arrested on January 23, 2025, at his workplace without a warrant and with the use of violence. Following his arrest, he was held in solitary confinement at the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center. On February 9, 2025, he was temporarily released on bail set at 500 million tomans.
During his detention, he was denied access to a lawyer and contact with his family.
Rahimpour had previously been imprisoned on similar charges and released in 2022 after completing his sentence.
