A Kurdish man from Mahabad named Farzin Maroufi was killed by government forces' gunfire after joining a big throng in Tehran to celebrate Iran's national team's loss.
Farzin Maroufi, a 22-year-old man from Mahabad and a resident of Tehran, was murdered by direct fire from IRI government forces in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in the Ekbatan Town of Tehran, according to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
According to an informed source, Farzin Maroufi, who came to the street to express his joy after Iran's national team was defeated by the United States national team, was shot in the head and killed by government forces.
"On Wednesday morning, Ekbatan police station called Maroufi's family to come to pick up Farzin from there." According to this source, they went there, assuming Farzin had been arrested and discovered his dead body.
Hengaw has been informed that the security institutions refused to allow Farzin Maroufi's body to be transferred to Mahabad and that his funeral was held in Tehran on the same day, under the pressure of the security institutions, with just a limited number of family members present.
It is worth noting that the security services did not even allow the family to hold the funeral ceremony and instead collected the funeral banners from Farzin's parents' house.
