Mullah Yunis Nokhah, one of the clerics from Piranshahr, who was arrested in July this year and released on bail after three weeks, was sentenced to imprisonment and the removal of his clergy clothes by the Urmia Special Clerical Court.

Mullah Yunis Nokhah, a teacher at the Salahuddin Ayubi School of Religious Sciences in Piranshahr, was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison and disrobed of his clerical clothes by the Special Clerical Court in Urmia, according to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights. On Sunday, January 11, 2023, he was formally informed of this sentence.

According to an informed source, the verdict was issued on charges such as "propaganda against the regime," "activities in cyberspace without permission," "declaring Eid-e-Ramadan without the government's permission," and "participating in the fatwa board for religious affairs."

Mullah Yunis Nokhah was abducted by Iranian government forces in Piranshahr on July 7, 2022, and after three weeks, on July 25, 2022, he was temporarily released from prison until the end of the proceedings.
