Hiva Amini and Bahman Feyzi, two civil and environmental activists from Saqqez, have been sentenced by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judiciary to a total of ten months in prison and a fine of twenty million tomans.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the Saqqez Revolutionary Court—presided over by Judge Mojtaba Ghaffari—convicted both individuals on charges of “propaganda against the state,” sentencing each to five months in prison. The combined ten-month sentence has been suspended for two years.

As an additional punishment, each of the defendants was also fined ten million tomans.

On Thursday, February 27, 2025, after spending 31 days in detention, Amini and Feyzi were temporarily released from Saqqez Central Prison on bail of 100 million tomans each, pending the completion of their legal proceedings. During their detention, they were held in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Sanandaj (Sine) and later transferred to Saqqez Central Prison.

Throughout their time in custody, both individuals were denied access to legal representation and were not permitted to contact their families.

They were originally arrested on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, in the city of Saqqez and subsequently transferred to the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center in Sanandaj, known as Shahramfar Base, before being moved to Sanandaj Central Prison.
