Houshyar Shabani, 28 years old and one of the civil activists of Baneh, was arrested and taken to prison to serve his sentence.
According to the report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on February 7, 2023, Houshyar Shabani, a former political prisoner and a civil activist from Baneh, was arrested by the government forces and transferred to the central prison of this city to serve his 8-month sentence.
In the previous Hengaw report, it was stated that this spring, Houshyar Shabani was sentenced to one year in prison by the branch of the Saqqez Revolutionary Court based in Baneh, headed by Judge Akbar Mirzaei, which was reduced to 8 months in prison, including two months of detention.
The arrest of this civil activist comes while his 6-month prison sentence was suspended for five years.
This sentence was issued on the charge of propaganda activity in favor of groups opposed to the regime in cyberspace and the charge of "membership and cooperation with the Kurdistan Democratic Party" was acquitted.
Houshyar Shabani, one of the civil activists of Baneh, was arrested on August 29, 2021, by the Iranian forces of the Baneh Department, and on November 23, after 75 days of detention, he was released from the Baneh Intelligence Detention Center on bail of 270 million Tomans and temporarily until the end of the proceedings.
It should be noted that Houshyar Shabani suffered stomach bleeding and internal bleeding three times due to torture during his detention in the detention center of the Baneh Department and was transferred to Salahuddin Ayubi Baneh Hospital. He was treated twice under a pseudonym and in a completely secure environment.
It should be noted that Houshyar Shabani was denied the right to access a lawyer and visit his family during his detention.
