Zara Mohammadi was sent home in a hurry; The prison authorities released her without prior notice

Zara Mohammadi, the Kurdish language teacher and head of the Nojin Social-Cultural Association, was suddenly released from Sanandaj Correctional Center without any prior notice. She published a video declaring she was "uninformed" about the sudden release.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Human Rights Organization, Zara Mohammadi, after serving a year and one month of her 5-year prison sentence, suddenly and without any prior notice was released from the correctional center in Sanandaj on the evening of Friday, February 10, 2023.

Zara Mohammadi posted a video on her page and wrote, "I was immediately and forcefully thrown out of prison without any request for a pardon from me or my lawyer." She continued, "I declare that I will never ask for pardon, and I will be firm on my course."

She stated in the video that "I had no role in my arrest and imprisonment; I do not influence my getting out of prison," and that she was "thrown out of the prison by the authorities within five minutes."

Zara Mohammadi was sentenced to 10 years in prison by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Islamic Revolution Court on the charge of "forming groups to disrupt national security" on February 16, 2020. This sentence was changed to five years in prison in Branch 4 of the Court of Appeal.

The Kurdish language teacher was arrested on January 8, 2022, by the Sanandaj judgment enforcement and transferred to the women's prison in the Sanandaj Correctional Center to execute her 5-year prison sentence.

Earlier, Zara Mohammadi's husband, Mr. Saiwan Ebrahimi, one of the civil activists from Kamiyaran, was abducted by the government forces on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, and until the time of writing this news, there was no detailed information available about the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his whereabouts.
