Moslem Saeedpour, a well-known Kurdish civil activist from Sanandaj has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Iranian Islamic revolutionary court in Sanandaj.
 

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Moslem Saeedpour, a prominent Kurdish civil activist from the village of Tangisar residing in Sanandaj, has been sentenced to one year of suspended imprisonment by the first branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Saeedi.
 

Mr. Saeedpour has been convicted of “preparation of Newroz celebrations in 2022” and his sentence was officially presented to him on April 29, 2023. 
 

Mr.  Saeedpour had been previously arrested on September 22, 2018, by the Sanandaj Intelligence Office following a summon one day after a general strike in protest against the execution of political prisoners Ramin Hossein Panahi, Zaniar and Luqman Moradi in Sanandaj.
 

Moslem Saeedpour had been arrested in the fall of 2017 accused of participating in celebrations for the KRG referendum, was held captive for 20 days, and later released on bail.
