The verdicts of three Kurdish citizens from Piranshahr who were arrested during the recent protests (the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement) have been issued. According to these verdicts, Mohammad Azarbarzin was sentenced to 30 months and 3 days in prison and 40 lashes; Wafa Rasouli-Azer was sentenced to 26 months and 18 days in prison and 40 lashes; and Abdul Sami Rasouli was sentenced to 3 years and 8 months in prison and 40 lashes.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, May 1, 2023, Branch 102 of the Criminal Court in Piranshahr, presided over by Judge "Reza Qahramani Saatlou", held the court session for Mohammad Azarbarzin, Wafa Rasouli Azar, and Abdul Sami Rasouli, three Kurdish citizens from Piranshahr.
According to the verdict issued by this court, which was officially communicated to the defendants recently, Mohammad Azarbarzin was sentenced to 15 months and one day in prison and 2 million rials (4 USD) for the charge of "having a Molotov cocktail,", 7 months and 16 days in prison for the charge of "disobeying the government agents", and 7 months and 16 days in prison and 40 lashes for the charge of "participating in disturbing public peace and order".
Also, Wafa Rasouli-Azer was sentenced to 11 months and 16 days in prison on the charge of "deliberately burning the banner of the Intelligence Directorate", 7 months and 16 days in prison on the charge of "disobeying the government agents", and 7 months and 16 days of imprisonment and 40 lashes on the charge of "participating in disturbing public peace and order".
Abdul Sami Rasouli was also sentenced to 3 years and 16 days in prison for the charge of "participating in the destruction and looting of the wheat store" and 7 months and 16 days in prison and 40 lashes for the charge of "participating in disturbing public order and peace".
Abdul Sami Rasouli was arrested on Tuesday, February 7, 2023; Wafa Rasouli Azar was arrested on Wednesday, January 18, 2023; and Mohammad Azarbarzin, another protester from Piranshahr, was arrested by the Iranian government forces on Sunday, November 27, 2022.They were later detained for nearly five months and were temporarily released from Naqadeh Central Prison with heavy bail.
