Sohrab Awizkan, from Mahabad, who was arrested during the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" (woman, life, freedom) uprisings in Mahabad, was sentenced to three years in prison and three years in exile by the Revolutionary Court.
 
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, recently, Sohrab Awizkan was sentenced to three years in prison on charges of "assembly and collusion to disrupt public order" and three years exile to Zanjan on charges of "participating in the protests".


For several months Sohrab Awizkan's fate and health conditions were unknown in detention cente, and the follow-ups of his family were fruitless.


"This political prisoner was physically and psychologically tortured for a forced confession against himself", an informed source told Hengaw.


It should be mentioned that during his interrogation and detention, Mr. Awizkan was deprived of access to a lawyer, family visits, and other basic rights of a prisoner.

Sohrab Awizkan was arrested by the forces of IRGC's intelligence department on Saturday, November 19, 2022, and was transferred to Mahabad Central Prison after being interrogated.
