Abbas (Mujahed) Kurkuri, from Izeh city, who was condemned to death by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Ahvaz, is on the verge of execution. Currently in bad health, he is held in a solitary cell at Shiban Prison in Ahvaz.
 
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Abbas Kurkuri, 38 years old and single from Izeh, Khuzestan province, is on the verge of execution.
 

Abbas Kurkuri has been subjected to severe torture during his detention, according to a source close to Kurkuri's family.
 

Currently, his health condition is critical, and a while back, he was forced to eat an unknown drug by security forces, and he went into a coma for several days.

This source added that Hassan Nabwati, Izeh's governor; Murad Shamuli, prosecutor of this city; Silawi, sequestration lawyer; Judge Adib Mehr; and Judge Moemeni have signed Abbad Kurkuri's case.
 
Furthermore, Gulanbar Karami Kurkuri, mother of Abbas Kurkuri, in a video that has been published by Hengaw, is asking people to be the voice of his son and don't allow the execution of his death sentence.


Currently, Abbas Kurkuri's case has been referred to Tehran, and till now, the responsible branch of the case has remained unknown to his family, and any details about Abbas's case have been withheld from his family.


During the five months of Abbas Kurkuri's imprisonment, he was allowed a few minutes to meet his family.


Recently, the first branch of the Ahwaz Revolutionary Court charged Abbas Kurkuri with "disturbing public order and causing major damage to physical integrity, resulting in the deaths of seven people, including Kian Pirflek, causing major damage to public and private property, forming opposition groups, and being a member of them through an armed uprising against the regime."


The families of these victims, including Zainab Mulai, mother of Kian Pirfalak, have denied the accusations of killing their family members by Abbas Kurkuri and other prisoners, and they have declared the government forces as the culprits.


The judiciary system of the Islamic Republic of Iran has accused Abbas Kurkuri, Bahman Bahmani, Hossain Saeedi, and Mamhum Ahmadi of killing seven citizens of Izeh on November 16, 2022.


 
On December 20, 2023, government forces armed with heavy guns attacked "Pr Surakh" village in Izeh. Killed Mahmud Ahmadi and Hossain Saeedi, and arrested Abas Kurkuri along with another person.
