Ashraf Akramullah, an Afghan citizen previously convicted of homicide, has been executed in Isfahan Central Prison (Destgard).

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in the early hours of Sunday, February 18th, 2024, the death sentence of Ashraf Karimullah, a 36-year-old inmate from Jalalabad, Afghanistan, was carried out in Isfahan Central Prison.

The Iran Human Rights Organization stated, "Ashraf Karimullah had been sentenced to death for premeditated murder in a mass brawl, following his detention and subsequent sentencing by the Iranian judicial system."

It is worth noting that Ashraf Karimullah's father was also executed 14 years ago in the same prison on charges of drug trafficking.

As of the time of this report, the execution of Ashraf Karimullah has not been announced in government-controlled media, especially outlets close to the judiciary.

Based on statistics recorded by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 28 Afghan citizens faced execution in Iranian prisons in 2023.
