Civil rights activist Zartasht Ahmadi Ragheb, who is one of the signatories of Khamenei's resignation letter, was sentenced to five years and eight months imprisonment along with additional punishments. He is currently in prison.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, recently the 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court sentenced Zartasht Ahmadi Ragheb to five years imprisonment on charges of "assembly on conspiracy and cahoots" and eight months on charges of "propaganda against the regime".
Also, he was deprived of joining any political groups, using a mobile phone, and having a two-year ban on leaving the country.
Under the principle of cumulative sentencing, the severest penalty of five years will be applicable to this civil activist out of the total sentence of five years and eight months.
Due to the alleged "refusal of wearing prison clothes and being handcuffed," this civil activist's court hearing was conducted in absentia, and the verdict was formally given to him.
On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, Zartasht Ahmadi Ragheb, while he was on his way to join the protests against poisoning the students, was violently arrested by forces of the IRGC's intelligence department and taken to the Great Tehran Penitentiary.
His arrest occurred despite his release from Karaj's Rajaei-Shahr prison on Monday, February 13, 2023, with a reduced sentence and amnesty.
