Farshid Jahantab, an activist from Behbahan City, who was arrested during the protests in November 2019 and later sentenced to 10 years in prison, was arrested to serve his sentence.
According to the report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, Farshid Jahantab, a 27-year-old citizen from Behbahan City of Khuzestan province, was arrested after being summoned to serve his 10-year sentence and was transferred to the central prison of this city.
Farshid Jahantab was arrested by the Iranian government forces during the popular protests in November 2019 and was later temporarily released on bail until the end of the proceedings.
Later, he was sentenced to one-year imprisonment and 74 lashes by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court of two Behebahan on the charge of disturbing public order and 10 years imprisonment on the charge of vandalizing and burning banks and public facilities which this verdict was confirmed by the Branch 16 of the Court of Appeals in Khuzestan province.
By referring to Article 134 of Iran’s Islamic Penal Code, which is known as the Consolidation of Sentences Law, the harshest sentence for this citizen, i.e. 10 years of imprisonment, can be implemented.
