An Iranian revolutionary court issued a 15 years verdict on another detained protester

Ayoub Javanpour, a civil activist, a detained protester and one of the injured victims in the "Jin, Jian, Azadi" movement, received fifteen years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Saqez. 
 

Based on reports obtained by the Hengaw organization for human rights, on Saturday, July 22nd, Ayoub Javanpour from Saqqez was sentenced to a combined 15 years imprisonment. The verdict, delivered by chief Judge Keyvan Jahani, is based on charges related to alleged propaganda against the system, for taking down the IRI flag, managing a group (more than two) to disrupt security, insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and insulting the Supreme Leader. Ayoub Youanpour's case reflects concerns over human rights abuses, and the report raises questions about his physical and mental condition amid claims of severe torture during detention.
 

According to the the accumulation of Sentences article in iran penal law the enforcement of the most severe punishment, i.e., ten years of punitive imprisonment will be implemented.


Hengaw recently reported, citing eyewitness accounts, that Ayoub Javanpour was transferred from Sanandaj Intelligence Detention Center to Saqez Central Prison on Saturday, July 15th. Concerns have been raised about his well-being, as he is reportedly in a critical physical and mental condition, with indications of severe torture during his detention.
 

The intelligence agency forces raided Mr. Javanpour’s residence in Saqqez on Saturday June 10th, 2023, subsequently apprehended and relocated him to intelligence detention center in Sanandaj. 
 

Ayoub Javanpour’s involvement in the "Jin, Jian, Azadi" movement has made him a target for authorities, resulting in prior detentions and legal actions. In 2018, he was previously sentenced for his activities, reflecting the persistent challenges faced by civil activists advocating for rights and freedoms in Iran.
