Arsalan Mahmoudi, a citizen who was apprehended during last year's "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" movement and subsequently sentenced to a 36-month prison term by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has been arrested and confined in order to carry out this sentence.

 

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization For Human Rights, On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, Arsalan Mahmoudi, a 41-year-old resident of Mahabad, was apprehended and subsequently transferred to the central prison within this city for the purpose of serving a 36-month prison sentence.
 

Arsalan Mahmoudi had previously been sentenced to a 36-month prison term by the Mahabad Revolutionary Court due to his participation in the protests that occurred in this city last year.
 

According to reliable sources, Arsalan Mahmoudi underwent severe torture during his four-month detention last year, which ultimately led to the coerced extraction of a confession under intense pressure.
 

In late November 2022, Arsalan Mahmoudi was arrested by IRGC intelligence forces during the Mahabad protests. After enduring four months of detention and torture, he was granted temporary release upon posting a bail of 3 billion tomans, pending the completion of legal proceedings.
 

The apprehension of this Kurdish citizen during the "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi" movement, coupled with the subsequent news of his sentencing, has yet to be covered by the media. Hengaw is the first source to provide coverage of these events.
