Shahdekht Khanjani, a Baha'i citizen, sentenced to 16 years in prison

Shahdakht Khanjani, a Baha'i citizen living in Semnan province, has been sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment, a fine, and social exclusion by the Iranian Judiciary.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Shahdakht Khanjani, a Baha'i citizen living in Semnan, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the First Branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court of this province for the charge of "forming a group to disrupt the security", 5 years in prison for the charge of "assembly and collusion" and one year in prison for the charge of "propaganda activity against the regime".

This Baha'i citizen has also been sentenced to 2 years of ban on membership and activity in parties and groups, 2 years of ban on using social media, and also to pay a fine of 50 million Tomans.

Shahdakht Khanjani was arrested on May 29, 2023, after her house was searched and her personal belongings were seized by the Iranian Intelligence forces. Finally, on June 8, 2023, she was temporarily released with a bail of one billion and 150 million tomans until the end of the proceedings.
