Sherko Hijazi, head of the Saqqez Football Board and a prominent civil activist in the city, was violently abducted near his workplace during a raid by the forces of the Intelligence Department.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, September 11, 2023, at noon, Sherko Hijazi was attacked on "Shohada" street in Saqqez. He was forcibly abducted by fifteen members of the intelligence department of Saqqez. He was thrown into the trunk of a car with extreme violence.
In addition to his role as the head of the Saqqez Football Board, Sherko Hijazi is one of the famous civil activists in the city, and he previously worked in his own carpet shop.
No information regarding the reasons for the abduction or any charges against Sherko Hijazi has been disclosed at the moment.
