Ghazaleh Baghernia, a resident of Mashhad, Razavi Khorasan, has been sentenced to a cumulative term of 6 years, 9 months, and 18 days of discretionary custodial sentence by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran. She was briefly detained in May of this year.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization For Human Rights, recently, Ghazaleh Baghernia, a resident of Mashhad, received a sentencing from the revolutionary court of this city. She was sentenced to 2 years, 7 months, and 16 days in prison for the charge of “forming a group and gang with the intention of disrupting security.” Additionally, for the charge of “gathering and collusion against national security,” she was handed a 3-year, 6-month, and 16-day imprisonment term. Furthermore, for the charge of “propaganda against the government,” she received a sentence of 7 months and 16 days in prison. In total, Ghazaleh Baghernia has been sentenced to 6 years, 9 months, and 18 days of discretionary custodial sentence.
Under the Consolidation of Sentences Law, Ghazaleh Baghernia will be subject to the most severe penalty, which amounts to three years, six months, and sixteen days of discretionary custodial sentence.
On May 24, 2023, Ghazaleh Baghernia was apprehended by the intelligence forces of the Revolutionary Guards at her residence in Mashhad. During the house search, these forces confiscated some of her personal belongings.
Finally, on June 11 of this year, this citizen was temporarily released from Vakil Abad prison in Mashhad upon posting a substantial bond of 1 billion and 600 million tomans, pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
