Firouz Abdullahi, an author from Saqqez who was recently detained for five weeks, was sentenced to one year in prison and an additional punishment by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
 
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, 54-year-old Firouz Abdullahi, author of the book 'Children of Saqqez', who is also disabled, has been sentenced to one year in prison on October 4, 2023. The charges against him include "membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran" and "propaganda activity against the Islamic Republic of Iran", as ruled by the 1st branch of the Revolutionary Court of the city.

 
Judge Masoud Hajizadeh issued the verdict, which was officially communicated to Mr. Abdullahi. It is worth noting that this author has the option to appeal within 20 days after the announcement.

 
In addition to one year of imprisonment, Firous Abdullahi, as an additional punishment, faces further penalties. These include the confiscation of SIM cards and mobile phones, as well as a prohibition on working as a peddler in the current location situated in "Helo" Square City.
 
Firouz Abdallahi, the accomplished author of six volumes of books in the field of children's literature, had earned his livelihood by peddling in Saqqez City for many years.
 
He was apprehended on Saturday, July 8 of this year, in his residence in Saqqez by the forces of the intelligence department, and subsequently he was transferred to the central prison of the city. Finally, on August 13, he was temporarily released upon depositing a bail of 300 million tomans, pending the conclusion of the proceedings.
