Mehdi Mohammadifard, a protester hailing from Nowshahr, who was apprehended during the Women, Life, Freedom movement, has been handed a six-year and six-month prison sentence by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Previously, he had sentenced to death twice, which was subsequently overturned by the Supreme Court.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, 19-year-old Mehdi Mohammadifard, a resident of Nowshahr in the Mazandaran province, was recently sentenced to six years and six months in prison by the second branch of the Sari Revolutionary Court.

In January 2023, this young man was sentenced to death twice on charges of "corruption on earth" and "Waging war against God." Additionally, he faced other charges, including "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran" and "insulting Ali Khamenei," resulting in a cumulative sentence of 7 years and six months of imprisonment. This verdict was later overturned by the Supreme Court and referred back to the same branch.

It is noteworthy that during the initial months of his detention, Mehdi Mohammadifard was deprived of his fundamental rights. After the death sentence was pronounced, he was  granted the right to meet with legal counsel. Additionally, there have been reports of severe torture and coerced confessions during his detention.
