Farideh Moradi and Golnoosh Nasiri were each sentenced to 44 months of discretionary imprisonment by the Mashhad Islamic Revolutionary Court.
According to a report obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Thursday, October 26, 2023, Branch 1 of the Mashhad Islamic Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Hadi Mansouri, filed charges against each of these two Baha'i woman adherents that include three years in prison for "membership in groups with the intent of undermining national security" and for "propaganda against the Islamic Republic" to eight months in prison.
According to the Consolidation Law, if the conviction is affirmed in the appeal court for these Baha'i adherent women, the higher punishment, which means three years of imprisonment, would be applicable to them.
The trial of these two Baha'i activist women was held in the aforementioned branch on October 11, 2023. Approximately one month prior to their initial court date, these two individuals underwent the preliminary stages of their interrogation. Each was granted permanent release pending the outcome of the trial in exchange for a deposited amount of 5 billion toman.
