Baháʼí couple in Isfahan sentenced to prison

Sharareh Rouhani and Farrokh Enayatipour, a Baháʼí couple residing in Isfahan, have been sentenced to a combined total of six years and six months of imprisonment by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to reports received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Sharareh Rouhani was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mohammadreza Tavakoli, to five years in prison on charges of “inciting people to war and conflict” and an additional one year for “propaganda against the regime.”
Farrokh Enayatipour, her husband, was sentenced to six months of imprisonment for “propaganda against the regime.”
The charges against the couple were based on “content published on social media” and “information retrieved from their mobile phones.”
Sharareh Rouhani was arrested in October 2023 at her residence in Isfahan. She spent one month in detention before being released on bail of three billion tomans, pending the completion of her legal proceedings. Farrokh Enayatipour was simultaneously summoned and later released on bail set at one billion tomans.
