Following the identification of another prisoner, Mehdi Nasiri from Karaj, the tally of executed individuals in Qom Central Prison on Saturday increased to two. Hengaw had previously reported on the execution of Abbas Ketabi in the same prison.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Saturday, December 9, 2023, the death sentences of at least two prisoners, 41-year-old Mehdi Nasiri from Hesarek, Karaj, and 47-year-old Abbas Ketabi from Qom, were carried out in the central prison of Qom.
According to reliable sources, Mehdi Nasiri was apprehended three years ago, while Abbas Ketabi, arrested five years ago. Subsequently they received death sentence from the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran on charges related to drug crimes.
The execution of these two prisoners has not been officially announced in government media, especially those affiliated with the judicial system.
