Ayub Javanpour, a civil activist from Saqqez who sustained injuries during the Women, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement and spent the last six months in detention, has been handed a cumulative sentence of four years in prison and fifteen months in exile by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran in two distinct cases.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights on Friday, December 15, 2023, Javanpour received a verdict from the Revolutionary Court of Saqqez, presided over by Judge Javad Mustafaei. This sentence includes one year of imprisonment and a 15-month exile to Bavi city in Khuzestan province on the charge of "propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Furthermore, Javanpour's previous seventeen-year prison sentence, issued by the Saqqez Revolutionary Court in a separate case, has been reduced to three years following an appeal.

In the prior case, Javanpour faced charges of "managing a crowd of more than two people to disrupt security," "insulting Khomeini," "insulting Khamenei," and "propaganda against the government by pulling down the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran." The Revolutionary Court of Saqqez, led by Kivan Jahani, initially sentenced him to 17 years in prison.

Hengaw had previously reported that Javanpour was transferred from the Sanandaj Intelligence Detention Center to Saqqez Central Prison on Saturday, July 15. Eyewitnesses noted his serious physical and mental condition, along with visible signs of severe torture.

Javanpour's arrest occurred on Saturday, June 10, 2023, when the Intelligence Department apprehended him at his Saqqez residence. He was subsequently moved to the Sanandaj Intelligence Office and later to the Central Prison of Saqqez.

It is crucial to highlight that Javanpour, who has suffered injuries and spent a period in detention during the Women, Life, Freedom movement previously, faced judicial sentences in 2018 due to his activities.
