Asadollah Fakhimi and his wife Houri Khanpour, residents of Tehran, have been collectively sentenced to eight years in prison by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Asadullah Fakhimi and Houri Khanpour were recently given prison terms of 5 and 3 years, respectively, by the 29th branch of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Seyyed Ali Mazloum. The charges against the couple include "propaganda against the government" and "gathering and collusion."

It is worth noting that the residence of this couple underwent a search by security forces on July 11 of this year, resulting in the confiscation of personal belongings, including laptops and mobile phones. Subsequently, the individuals were summoned to court.

The first hearing on the charges against Asadullah Fakhimi and Houri Khanpour took place in August, followed by a second hearing on November 5 of this year. Each member of the couple was granted temporary release on bail until the conclusion of the proceedings.
