Complementary: the death sentence of six prisoners implemented in Karaj Central prison

With the identity verification of Ahmad Latifi, Akbar Khoramtash, Ali Akbar Mordian, and Amirhosein Maleki, the number of executed prisoners in Karaj central prison rises to six. Earlier, Hengaw reported on the execution of two other prisoners, identified as Hadi Nazari and Ali Miri. Nineteen death sentences have been implemented for Kurdish prisoners within the past 2 weeks in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Sunday morning, January 14, 2024, the death sentences of at least six Kurdish prisoners identified as Ahmad Latifi, Akbar Taj, Amirhosein Maleki, Hadi Nazari,  Ali Akabar Moradian and Ali Miri from Kermanshah and Harsin were carried out in Karaj central prison.

These prisoners were formerly sentenced to death by the Karaj Revolutionary Court under drug-related crime charges.

Another prisoner has also been executed for homicide, whose identity is being investigated by the Hengaw Organization.


As of the time of reporting, the news of this execution has not been disclosed in government media, particularly those affiliated with the judiciary. 

Citing the data collected by the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, since the beginning of the current year (2024), the death sentences of at least 19 Kurdish prisoners have been implemented in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
