Hengaw : A  female prisoner detained in Urmia Central Prison has been  infected by Corona virus and transferred out of prison due to her deteriorating physical condition.


 According to a report received by Hengaw  Human Rights Organization, on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, a prisoner in the women's ward of Urmia Central Prison, identified as Maryam Avans, 55, from Urmia, was diagnosed with the corona virus and her physical condition was deteriorating and was transferred to medical centres out of prison . 

 According to an informed source from Urmia Prison, Maryam Avans, who is from the Christian minority in Urmia, returned to the prison after being transferred to other medical centers, and there’s no more information of her condition.


 The source further stated that Maryam Avans and her husband were transferred to Urmia Prison five years ago due to inability to pay their debts, and that her husband died in prison two years ago due to illness .
