June 2021: Monthly report on Human Rights Violations in Iranian Kurdistan

Hengaw: During June 2021, at least 68 human rights violations were recorded in Iranian Kurdistan.

According to the statistics recorded in the Statistics and Data Documentation Center of Hengaw  Human Rights Organization, during June 2021, at least 68 human rights violations were recorded in Iranian Kurdistan, which is as follows;

 

19 Kolbars killed and injured:

During this period, at least 19  Kolbars and local Kurdish tradesmen known as “Kasibkar”  were killed or injured on the borders of Kurdistan, and 8 of whom lost their lives.

7 Kolbars were killed by direct fire from the  Iranian and Turkish armed forces and another one lost his life due to a natural incident.

Also, out of the total 11 Kolbars who were injured, 10 of them were injured by direct fire from the Iranian Border Security Forces.

 

3 citizens Executed and died in prison :

In June 2021, the death sentences of at least 2 Kurdish citizens from Salmas district of West Azerbaijan (Urmia) province and Ilam were carried out, one on charges of premeditated murder and one on charges of drug trafficking.

Also, during this period, one prisoner from Urmia lost his life in the central prison of this city due to the beating and torture from the prison’s officials.

 

4 civilians killed and injured by landmines blasts:

In June 2021, at least 4 civilians were killed and injured by landmines and explosives left over from the Iraq-Iran war on the borders of Baneh district of Kurdistan province and Ilam, one of whom lost his life.

Also, a Kurdish citizen was killed in the Marivan district of Kurdistan province by direct fire from the Iranian armed forces.

 

38 citizens Arrested and sentenced to prison and death:

According to Hengaw’s statistics, at least 30 Kurdish citizens were arrested by the Iranian security forces in various cities of Iranian  Kurdistan during June 2021 on charges of political, ideological, and civic activity.

 

In addition, 7 Kurdish citizens were sentenced to a total of 19 years in prison by the Iranian judiciary for political and civic activities, and one citizen was sentenced to death.

 

4 workers lost their lives:

In June 2021, at least 4 workers from the Kalatarzan, Marivan, and Baneh districts of Kurdistan Province and Ilam lost their lives due to work accidents.
