Hengaw: Two Kurdish citizens from Sarvabad district of Kurdistan Province who were arrested in summer 2020 have been sentenced to prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, two citizens from the village of Diyuznav in Sarvabad, Meraj Mortezaei and Hiva Azizpour, were sentenced to one year and five months in prison by the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, respectively.  They have been officially notified on March 15.

This sentence was issued by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary and General Court of Marivan on  the charge of "collaborating with the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK)."

These two citizens, who were detained by Iranian intelligence services in summer 2020 and released on bail two months later, have 20 days to appeal the sentence.

Meraj Mortezaei was arrested on Thursday, July 30, 2020 , and Hiva Azizpour was arrested on Thursday, September 10. They were temporarily released on bails of 40 million and 120 million Tomans after two months until the end of the trial.  .
