Arab Civil Rights Activist Sentenced to Prison by Iranian Judiciary

Ebrahim Elhaei, an Arab civil rights activist from Ahvaz, has been sentenced to one year in prison by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ebrahim Elhaei was sentenced by Branch 3 of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court for charges including “insulting Ali Khamenei,” “membership in organizations opposing the government,” and “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Ebrahim Elhaei, aged 54, was brought to Ahvaz airport by the Ministry of Intelligence on September 3, 2023, under deceptive circumstances and subsequently arrested. His detention was extended in October.
Ultimately, this civil rights activist was temporarily released on November 5, 2023, pending the conclusion of the trial process.
