Prison Sentence Issued to Disabled Person in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province of Iran

Omid Izadi Sadeghabadi, a Qashqai disabled individual, received a four-year rehabilitative imprisonment sentence and a 15 million Tomans fine from the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran for “media and propaganda actions supporting the Zionist system.”

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights on Saturday, April 20, 2024, Omid Izadi Sadeghabadi, a 36-year-old disabled resident of Saman County in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, was sentenced by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court 2 of this county.

He was charged with “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran (media and propaganda actions supporting the Zionist system)” and “spreading lies with the intent to disturb public opinion." In addition to the four-year rehabilitative imprisonment, he was ordered to pay a fine of 15 million Tomans to the state Treasury.
