Special report: 12 Baloch civilians killed by direct fire from Iran government forces in less than two months

Hengaw: Thursday, February 27, 2025
According to statistics recorded by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, in less than two months—from the beginning of 2025 until February 24—at least 12 Baloch civilians, including a 5-year-old child, have been shot and killed by forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The report states that at least nine of these people were killed by police forces (NAJA), two by Special Unit forces, and one by intelligence agents.
Among the 12 victims, seven were killed in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, three in South Khorasan Province, and two in Kerman Province.
The list of 12 Baloch civilians killed includes:
1. Abdoljalil Gomshadzahi, 20, from Golshan, killed by direct police fire on January 7, 2025.
2. Ahmad Gomshadzahi, 20, from Mirjaveh, killed by direct police fire on January 7, 2025.
3. Saeed Ahmadi, 24, from Rudbar-e Jonub, killed by direct fire from intelligence agents on January 8, 2025.
4. Amir Mahmoudi, 30, from Sahalabad, killed by direct police fire on January 9, 2025.
5. Hossein Sarani Rad, 30, from Sahalabad, killed by direct police fire on January 9, 2025.
6. Aref Kurd, 35, from Khash, killed by direct police fire on January 12, 2025.
7. Assef Sasouli, 30, from Hirmand, killed by direct police fire on January 18, 2025.
8. Abolqasem Bamari, 30, from Delgan, killed by direct police fire on January 28, 2025.
9. Mohammad Kabdani, 21, from Zahedan, killed by direct police fire on February 8, 2025.
10. Behzad Rashidi, from Rigan, killed by direct police fire on February 11, 2025.
11. Mahmoud Bireichi, 24, from Zahedan, killed by direct police fire on February 20, 2025.
12. Yousef Shahli-Bor, a 5-year-old child, from Iranshahr, killed by direct fire from Special Unit forces on February 24, 2025.
The killing of 12 Baloch civilians, including a child, in less than two months highlights how the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to target Balochs under false pretexts, perpetuating systematic oppression, discrimination, and marginalization against Baloch communities—similar to other ethnic, national, and religious minorities in Iran.
Hengaw warns against the absolute impunity surrounding the systematic killing of Baloch civilians by Iran’s security and military forces. The organization calls on Iranian civil society, human rights organizations, and the international community to take urgent and firm action against these ongoing extrajudicial killings.
