Hengaw's statistical report by on the execution of 9 Baloch prisoners within 72 hours

Over a period of 72 hours, from Tuesday, April 8 to Thursday, April 10, 2025, at least 9 Baloch prisoners were executed in various prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to information collected and verified by the Statistics and Documentation Center of the Hengaw, two of those executed were religious/conscience prisoners.
The executions were carried out in Vakilabad Prison of Mashhad, Gonabad, Iranshahr, and Shahroud prisons. Of the total 9 executed prisoners, 5 had been sentenced to death on drug-related charges, 2 for “premeditated murder,” and 2 on charges of baghi—a charge employed by the Iranian judiciary to suppress dissent and target religious activists.
Locations of execution:
Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad: 4 cases
Gonabad Prison: 2 cases
Iranshahr Prison: 2 cases
Shahroud Prison: 1 cas
Based on statistical data recorded by Hengaw’s Statistics and Documentation Center, at least 110 Balochs were executed in Iranian prisons during 2024, comprising 12% of all recorded executions in that year. This figure also includes the execution of at least two Baloch women and one juvenile offender. These numbers reflect the intensification of the Iranian judiciary’s violent and discriminatory policies against the Baloch minority.

3. Amirahmad Sanaei – from Hirmand, Sistan and Baluchestan province; executed on drug-related charges (Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad)
Wednesday, April 9, 2025:
4. Gholamreza Pardakhteh – from Azadshahr, Golestan province; executed on drug-related charges (Shahroud Prison)
5. Sajjad Barahui, 22 years old – from Sarakhs, Razavi Khorasan province; executed on drug-related charges (Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad)
6. Younes Kord, 48 years old – from Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan province; executed on drug-related charges (Gonabad Prison)
7. Esmail Dahmardeh, 62 years old – from Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan province; executed on drug-related charges (Gonabad Prison)
Thursday, April 10, 2025:
8. Ehsan Bamari – from Delgan, Sistan and Baluchestan province; executed on the charge of premeditated murder (Iranshahr Prison)
9. Yasin Bamari, 28 years old – from Iranshahr, Sistan and Baluchestan province; executed on the charge of premeditated murder (Iranshahr Prison)
Hengaw Organization for Human Rights strongly condemns these executions, many of which fall within the scope of the Iranian judiciary’s discriminatory and repressive policies targeting the Baloch minority. The organization once again calls for the immediate halt to the issuance and implementation of death sentences, particularly against national/ethnic, religious, and ideological minorities.
