Prisoner hanged in Zanjan Central Prison

The death sentence of Faraj Sarmadi, who had been convicted of “rape,” was carried out in Zanjan Central Prison.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Sunday, November 17, 2024, Faraj Sarmadi, a 32-year-old Turkish man from Zanjan, was hanged in Zanjan Central Prison.

Sources close to the matter revealed that Faraj Sarmadi was arrested two years and five months ago on charges of “rape”. He was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As of the time of this report, state-affiliated media, including outlets close to the judiciary, have not announced the execution.
