Kurdish woman Nazanin Eliasi arrested by security forces in Mahabad

As the wave of arrests targeting Kurdish individuals continues in Mahabad, Nazanin Eliasi has been arrested by the Intelligence Department, bringing the total number of recent arrests in the city to 14.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Monday, December 16, 2024, Nazanin Eliasi, a resident of Mahabad, was summoned via phone and subsequently arrested upon appearing at the Islamic Republic of Iran Intelligence Department in the city.

As of the time of this report, no detailed information is available regarding the reasons for her arrest, the charges brought against her, or her fate and whereabouts.

Based on data recorded by the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 14 Kurdish individuals in Mahabad have been arrested by security agencies of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past three days.
