Kurdish woman Shamsi Khosravi faces risk of death sentence after trial in Tehran Revolutionary Court

Shamsi Khosravi, a 44-year-old Kurdish woman from Saqqez who is being held at Qarchak Prison, is at imminent risk of receiving a death sentence after being tried on charges including “corruption on earth” and “spying for Israel.”

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Khosravi’s trial was recently held before Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati. During the hearing, Salavati told Khosravi that “no sentence other than death awaits you.”

Sources familiar with the case said Iranian security and judicial authorities have charged Khosravi with “corruption on earth,” “spying for Israel,” and “cooperation with Kurdish opposition parties.” The charges were brought amid the heightened security crackdown following the outbreak of Iran’s 40-day war and are among those commonly used in cases resulting in death sentences.

Khosravi was arrested by Iranian security forces on March 5, 2026, on the Karaj–Tehran highway. Following her arrest, she was held in enforced disappearance for two months without any contact with her family.

She is currently detained at Qarchak Prison and has been denied access to a lawyer of her choosing and other fair trial guarantees.
