Kurdish civil society activist Shirin Masoudi arrested during violent raid in Mahabad

Shirin Masoudi, a Kurdish civil society activist from Mahabad and a member of the city’s Razhan mountaineering group, has been arrested during a violent raid by Intelligence Ministry agents and transferred to the agency’s detention facility in Urmia.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Intelligence Ministry agents raided the beauty salon where Masoudi worked, near Qane Bridge in Mahabad, on the afternoon of August 19, 2026. She was arrested with the use of force and without the presentation of a warrant.
Despite repeated inquiries by her family, security and judicial authorities have declined to provide clear information about her case or condition.
No information is available regarding the reason for Masoudi’s arrest or any charges against her. She has also been denied access to a lawyer and contact with her family.
