Second Death Sentence in Jiroft Central Prison: Total Turkish Prisoners Executed This Year Reaches 100

The death sentence of a Turkish prisoner, identified as Nasser Ghabel Salmani, who had previously been convicted on drug-related charges by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, was carried out in Jiroft Central Prison. Simultaneously, the execution of Nader Ghani-Zadeh was also carried out at the same facility.
According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Saturday, November 23, 2024, the execution of Nasser Ghabel Salmani, a 67-year-old individual from Tabriz, took place in Jiroft Central Prison.
Sources revealed that the prisoner had been detained four years ago on drug-related charges and was subsequently sentenced to death by the judiciary.
Hengaw had earlier reported the execution of another prisoner, Nader Ghani-Zadeh, a resident of Anbarabad in Kerman province, at the same prison on charges of premeditated murder.
As of the time of this report, the executions of these two prisoners have not been announced by state-affiliated media, particularly those close to the judiciary.
According to statistics documented by Hengaw’s Statistics and Documentation Center, 100 Turkish prisoners have been executed in Iranian prisons since the beginning of this calendar year, including seven women.
