Arsalan Dadgar, a 48-year-old Kurdish man from Divandarreh, arrested during  the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, has been sentenced to 36 months of suspended imprisonment by the judiciary of Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Dadgar was recently convicted of “espionage” by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court. His 36-month suspended sentence will remain in effect during a three-year probationary period.

Although his request to appeal the sentence was initially denied, Dadgar retains the right to contest the ruling in the Sanandaj Appeals Court within 20 days of the verdict. The suspended sentence considers the 17 days he previously spent in detention.

Dadgar was first arrested on September 28, 2023, after being summoned to the Sanandaj Intelligence Office.

Later, during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, he was arrested again on January 8, 2023, following another summons to the same office. During this second detention, Dadgar was held at an intelligence detention facility for 52 days before being released on bail of 1 billion tomans on March 1, 2023.
