The death sentence of Alireza Yarmohammadi, a 22-year-old Turkish prisoner from Azandarian, Malayer County, Hamedan Province, was carried out in Hamedan Central Prison. He had previously been convicted of “premeditated murder.”
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Alireza Yarmohammadi, who was arrested four years ago at the age of 18, was executed at dawn on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
Sources state that Yarmohammadi was arrested after an incident in which he killed one of several individuals who attempted to sexually assault him. During the altercation, Yarmohammadi defended himself by using a weapon, resulting in the death of one of the attackers. Despite his claims of self-defense, he was sentenced to death by Iran’s judicial system.
It is also reported that Yarmohammadi faced significant hardships during his imprisonment, including being taken to the gallows twice before his execution was finalized.
As of the time of this report, Iranian state-run media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary, have not announced his execution.
