Death Sentences of two prisoners carried out in Khorramabad and Kashan prisons

The death sentences of two prisoners, Mohsen Barzegar and Farhad Atashzadeh, were carried out in Khorramabad and Kashan prisons. They had previously been sentenced to death on charges related to drug offenses by the judiciary of Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the morning of Wednesday, December 11, 2024, Mohsen Barzegar was hanged in Khorramabad Central Prison.
Additionally, at dawn on Sunday, December 8, 2024, the death sentence of Turkish prisoner, Farhad Atashzadeh, from the village of Qareh Chapagh in Bonab, was carried out in Kashan Central Prison.
Mohsen Barzegar had previously been arrested and sentenced to death by the Islamic Republic of Iran judiciary on charges related to drug offenses. Similarly, Farhad Atashzadeh had been arrested six years ago and sentenced to death on the same charges.
As of the time of reporting, the executions of these two prisoners have not been announced in state-affiliated media, including outlets linked to the judiciary.
