Two Prisoners executed in Mashhad and Birjand Prisons

The death sentence of an Afghan national identified as Abdulrahman Eshaqzahi was carried out in secret at Mashhad Central Prison. Simultaneously, another prisoner identified as Hamed Khosravi, a resident of Birjand, was executed at the Central Prison of this city. Both prisoners had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.
According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the death sentence of Abdulrahman Eshaqzahi, a 57-year-old Afghan national, was secretly carried out at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad without granting him a final meeting with his family.
Meanwhile, the death sentence of another prisoner identified as Hamed Khosravi, a resident of Birjand, was carried out at the Central Prison of this city, located in South Khorasan Province. Additionally, a Baloch prisoner identified as Davood Qalijkhani had been executed in secret at the same prison, with news of his execution being reported only the day before.
Both prisoners had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and were later sentenced to death by the judiciary.
As of the time of this report, the execution of these two prisoners has not been announced in state media, particularly outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
