Hengaw: Sunday, January 5, 2025
Khalil Alizahi, a 45-year-old Baloch prisoner from Zahedan and father of eight, and Amir Mohammad Farahani, from Arak, were executed in Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad). They were sentenced to death on charges related to drug offenses.
According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Khalil Alizahi and Amir Mohammad Farahani's execution took place at dawn on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
Khalil Alizahi had been arrested two years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by the judiciary of Islamic Republic of Iran. His execution was carried out without a final meeting with his family.
Prison authorities contacted Khalil’s family on Saturday, January 4, for a final visit. However, due to the long distance, the family was unable to arrive on time, and the execution proceeded without their presence.
As of the time of this report, the execution of these two prisoners has not been reported by state-affiliated media or judiciary-related outlets.
According to statistics compiled by Hengaw’s Center for Statistics and Documentation, at least 110 Baloch prisoners were executed in Iranian prisons during 2024.
