The death sentence of Muhyaddin Ebrahimi, a Kurdish political prisoner from Oshnaviyeh, who was transferred to solitary confinement two days ago, was secretly carried out after more than five years of imprisonment in Urmia Central Prison.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Friday, March 17, 2023, the death sentence of Muhyaddin Ebrahimi, a 43-year-old prisoner from Oshnaviyeh, was carried out in Urmia Central Prison.

The death sentence of this political prisoner was carried out while the governor and mayor of Oshnaviyeh contacted his family in the early hours of this morning and announced the suspension of his sentence and his family had returned from Urmia to Oshnaviyeh, but they were contacted early in the morning and were asked to go to Urmia prison to receive his body.

It should be mentioned that Fakhraddin Ebrahimi, the son of this political prisoner, was arrested by the Iranian government forces in front of Urmia central prison last night.

On Wednesday, this political prisoner was called to the security office under the pretext of being sent to the court, and from there he was transferred to the solitary cell of Urmia Central Prison, and on Thursday, his family met him for the last time.

Muhyaddin Ebrahimi, 43 years old and from the village of "Alkawi" in Oshnaviyeh, was shot, severely injured, and arrested by the Iranian forces at “Beimrazta” base on Saturday, November 3, 2017, while he was working as a Kolber.

On Sunday, September 23, 2018, Muhyaddin Ebrahimi was officially notified of the death sentence on the charge of "treason" through his membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan in the central prison of Urmia.  His court session was held on August 20, 2018, by the second branch of the Iranian Islamic  Revolutionary Court in Urmia, presided over by Judge Sheikhlo, while he was deprived of the right to have an appointed lawyer.

Following the protest of this political prisoner against the verdict, the sentence was overturned by the 19th branch of the Supreme Court of Iran due to "violation of the investigation" and again referred to the second branch of the Islamic Revolution Court.

On Saturday, January 18, 2020, he was sentenced to death for the second time by the second branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Urmia, headed by Judge Sheikhlo, on the charge of "infidelity and membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan."

Muhyaddin Ebrahimi, who was married and the father of a disabled child, was also arrested by the security forces in 2011 and imprisoned for 14 months on the charge of being a member of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.

It is worth mentioning that, Nurradin Ebrahimi, the brother of this political prisoner, was killed by direct fire from the Iranian armed forces during a raid on the Oshnaviyeh border in May 2018.  Also, Mohammad Bapir Ebrahimi, his father, was killed before by the IRGC forces.
