The death sentence of a Kurdish citizen from Harsin named Mohammad Dostinejad, who was previously sentenced to death on the charge of drug-related crimes and later commuted to life imprisonment, was secretly carried out in Hamedan Central Prison.

According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, the death sentence of a 29-year-old Kurdish citizen from Harsin, Mohammad Dostinejad, was carried out in Hamedan Central Prison.

Hengaw has been informed that, at the same time, the death sentence of another man was carried out for the same charge, but his identity has not been confirmed yet.

According to an informed source, this citizen has been executed while the Iranian judiciary had previously reduced the death sentence of Mohammad Dostinejad to life imprisonment. He was one of the prisoners who had actively participated in the protests inside the prison that coincided with the recent uprising and revolution during the past few months.

On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, the prison authorities contacted the sisters of this prisoner and informed them of receiving his release letter. This action is said to be an attempt to prevent a protest gathering in front of the prison.

Mohammad Dostinejad lost his parents and was the elder brother of two sisters and the breadwinner of the family at the same time.

The news of the execution of this Kurdish prisoner has not been announced in the Iranian state media or the media affiliated with the judiciary.
