The death sentences of two Kurdish prisoners named Mohsen Yaqouti and Hamzeh Farrokhi, both citizens from Kangavar City in Kermanshah, were carried out at Hamedan Prison. These individuals had been previously convicted and sentenced to death for drug-related charges.

 

According to the information received by the Hengaw Organization For Human Rights, On the morning of Monday, July 17, 2023, the death sentences of Mohsen Yaqouti and Hamzeh Farrokhi, two Kurdish prisoners from Kangavar City, were carried out at Hamedan Central Prison.


According to a reliable source close to their families, these two prisoners were arrested in Hamedan two years ago for drug-related charges. Subsequently, they were sentenced to death by the Iranian Islamic  Revolutionary Court in Hamedan.


Simultaneously, in the early hours of today, the death sentence of Sangar Khezri, a Kurdish prisoner from the city of Nalas in Sardasht, was carried out at Naghadeh Prison. Similar to the aforementioned cases, Sangar Khazri was also sentenced to death for drug-related charges. 

Consequently, the tally of executed Kurdish prisoners has now risen by three.

 

So far, the news of the execution of Mohsen Yaqouti and Hamzeh Farrokhi has not been published by the Iranian state media or the media outlets affiliated with the Iranian judiciary.
